Wicked Burn (Realm Enforcers #3) by Rebecca Zanetti

Includes the brand new Dark Protectors novella, ‘Talen’!

Simone Brightston knows she can beat the rap her enemies are pinning on her. An Irish witch is nobody’s fool, and she didn’t get to her position on the high council without serious power. But her cousins want her to hide out—and they somehow convinced her arch nemesis to play getaway driver.

Of all the men she’s known, Nikolaj Veis is the hardest to intimidate. With his demon-dark eyes and his inscrutable beauty, he’s as desirable as he is dangerous. And he knows better than to underestimate Simone. So when he pulls up on a roaring bike and tells her to climb on or fight it out, she grabs a handful of jacket and holds on tight. Running from the law may not be the smartest plan. But when it comes to Nick, hot pursuit and a blazing fast ride are exactly what Simone’s looking for . . .

  1. I received this in exchange for an honest review.

On the night Nicholai had planned to mate Simone fate intervened. In order to save the Realm he had to give up the woman he loved, shattering his heart and hers.
Nicholai rises to power within the demon ranks becoming second in command to Zane and an extremely powerful demon. He knew he would be coming for Simone as soon as his duty to the Realm was done. She is his, has always been his and Nicholai is through with waiting.

Simone is a powerful successful witch and independent woman. She is also a member of the Coven Nine. She has never forgiven Nicholai for walking away from her and breaking her heart and refuses to let anyone close to her again.

Things are hotting up with Apollo and witches are dying is Simone at the heart of it? The Coven Nine send out an arrest order for Simone but no one believes she is guilty. A plan is put together to take her into hiding. Things go bad and she and Nicolai are taken prisoner along with Bear and Tori.
Could this be the start of another War?

By the end of the book I had my suspicions on who the real mastermind was, but I guess I will have to wait and see.
This instalment kept me up till 5 am I just couldn’t put it down.
We learn more about the witches (Arrogant bunch. Need taking down a peg or two) Shifters and Demons.

At times it seemed like there was a story within a story which was not a bad thing.
I think this instalment started to set things up nicely for another spin off series. Shifters maybe? Oh I hope so. I really like Bear and warmed up slightly to Flynn. Would love to read more on Flynn’s shifter. The Dunne’s and Kayrs from Dark Protectors are in this series a lot. I don’t think you would need to read Dark Protectors first but I would recommend it in order to get the full enjoyment out of this series.
